From September 23-30, 2004, Kirsten attended the FilmFest Hamburg with fellow AWC film reviewers Coppelia Hays-Branscheid, Adele Riepe, Shelly Schoeneshoefer, Becky Tan, and Mary Wienke. Everyone had press credentials, reporting for three different publications (Currents, Hamburg Guide, and awchamburg.org). Between the two weeks of pre-festival screenings and the eight days of the festival, Kirsten saw 36 films, attended a late-night film talk, and wrote 14 reviews. Jim also accompanied Kirsten to some of the evening screenings that were open to the public and wrote one review.

Part of the responsibility for attending the festival was doing a write-up of their experiences; thus, the Currents FilmFest Hamburg Film Supplement was created. The original issue was printed in September 2004 and was sent to the American Women's Club membership in October 2004.
