In April 2005, Kirsten finally cashed in Jim's birthday gift to her: a Hamburg tour by plane! |

| Jim and Kirsten in front of the sea plane. The plane takes off from and lands on the Elbe River, then does a 30-minute flight over Hamburg. |

| Jim waving from the "airport" on the Elbe. You have to walk through all the boat docks on the harbor to get to the airport. |

| We flew right over our apartment during the flight. Our place is a little above and left of the center of the photo. The little canal running through approximately the center of the photo from top right to bottom is the canal behind our apartment, and the big tree-covered street running from top to (almost) bottom is Sierichstrasse, our street. |
 |
| A view the Hamburg skyline out the window during the flight. The plane flies at a height of 500-700 meters (1500-2000 feet). |

| A look at the sea plane coming into the "gate" at the "airport". The plane only holds five passengers and the pilot, so it is a very intimate experience. Definitely a time to remember! |
 |
| A view of the HafenCity area of Hamburg out the window of the flight. The HafenCity is being totally redeveloped over the next 10 years into a new hub of activity. |
