We spent an afternoon in the lovely town of Freibug in the southern Black Forest.
The 16th-century Kaufhaus (Market House) on the Münsterplatz. The hall was used as the central trade administration in the Middle Ages.
A view of the streets of downtown from the tower of the huge Münster (Cathedral), Freiburg's most famous landmark.
The lovely Neues Rathaus (new town hall) is the result of merging two Renaissance buildings with a central arcaded section.
A unique feature of Freiburg is its mosaics in the pavement in front of shops. Here you can see an Apotheke "A" symbol marking a pharmacy.
A dizzying look at the top of the Münster tower from the inside. We climbed the several-hundred-step tower for its good views of Freiburg and the Black Forest beyond.
One of the dazzling stained-glass windows in the Münster (Cathedral).
