The 4500 ft Feldberg is the Black Forest's highest mountain, so we had to hike it!
A group photo from our first stop, after we hiked up to about 4300 ft. The group includes (front row): Jim, Petra, Bine, and Manue; (back row): Werner, Joe, Tamzin, Marco, and Kirsten.
Jim, Tamzin and Joe sit on the rather interesting-looking Bismarck monument near the top of the Feldberg.
A view down out our first stop, the Zastler Hütte. We stopped there for a lunch of Black Forest ham and cheese and for a refill of our water bottles!
Marco and Bine, the groom and bride, lead the way on the hike to the Zastler Hütte from the top of the Feldberg.
After hiking for another couple of hours, we came to the Raimartihof near the Feldsee, where we stopped for kaffee und kuchen (coffee and cake). Marco got the last piece of Schwarzwäldertorte (Black Forest cake), but all of the other cakes were delicious as well!
Our hike took us around the lovely Feldsee (Feld lake) before our final ascent back to the bottom of the Feldberg.
