The
last days of our trip were spent with the McMahons in the spa town of Baden-Baden. |

 |
| Baden-Baden
is a lovely town in the northern part of the Black Forest. Flowers are everywhere, financed
by revenues from the very successful casino. |

| A
look at the Baden-Baden's casino, Germany's oldest, which we saw on a tour (on which photos
weren't allowed, technically). |

and Kirsten pause for a photo along the front of the Trinkhalle (Pump Room), which now houses
the Tourist Information office. |
 |
| The
amazing Kurhaus, the cultural center of Baden-Baden. It was built in 1824, and its festival
halls are still used for balls, conventions and concerts. It also houses the casino. |

| Jim
contemplates life high above Baden-Baden from the top of the 2000 ft high Mount Merkur. We
took the cable car up there, which, at a more than 50% grade, is one of the steepest in Europe. |
 |
| Our
last day before heading home we drove up to the Altes Schloß above town.. It was a residence
from the 11th to the 15th century; now the ruins are fun to walk around and have great views. |
