Kirsten warms her hands on a post-hike cocoa from a snack bar outside of the Jagdschloß Granitz (below). We didn't expect so much snow on an island!

We took a 2.5 hike through the Granitz Forest to the Jagdschloß Granitz (above), a hunting lodge built in 1723 at the top of the 107m Tempelberg hill.
|
After visiting the Jagdschloß Granitz, we took the Rasender Roland steam train to Göhren. The train has been serving Rügen since 1895.

The palatial Kurhaus, one of the focal points of Binz's 4km-long beach promenade. Binz is Rügen's largest and most celebrated seaside resort. It is known for its collection of 19th century Bäder-architektur (spa architecture) houses.

A view down the pier of Göhren, a laid-back resort town on the Mönchgut Peninsula in Rügen's southeast. The town has a pier, park and promenade that leads to the neighboring village of Baabe.
