Once
the gang was together, there were quite a few fun pre-wedding activities planned. |

| We
couldn't leave the Black Forest without trying Schwarzwäldertorte (Black Forest cake),
so Marco arranged for it to be brought in for us to our hotel. |

| A
German wedding tradition we witnessed was Polterabend, where neighbors bring old dishes to
the couple's family's house and smash them on the driveway. The bride and groom (as above)
then have to clean up everything with brooms. |

 |
| Marco's
parents had a barbecue for Polterabend, where all of the Coogee Gang plus friends and family
were invited. Above is a photo showing all of us toasting the bride and groom. |
 |
| Bine's
dad was the grillmaster at the Polterabend barbecue, and Werner, Tanja, Arun and Jim all waited
impatiently to be the first to try the finished food. |

| Kirsten
and Susan took a moment to smile for the camera during the Polterabend barbecue. |
 |
| After
the wonderful barbecued food, we needed some schnapps to help us digest, and Marco was ready
with local and exotic kinds. |
