We also took a drive along the Neckar River on the Burgenstraße (Castle Road).
The lovely town of Hirschhorn, which was where the wedding took place (in an Evangelical church that is just to the left of what you can see in this photo)..
Burg Mittelburg, one of the "vier Burgen" (four castles) above the town of Neckarsteinach. This castle is now the home of a baron.
A view from one of the towers of Burg Schadeck, with Jim and the Neckar river visible beyond. Burg Schadeck was built in 1230 but has been a ruin since the 18th century.
A view of the Neckar river and Neckarsteinach, with two of the castles (Burg Mittelburg on the left and Burg Vorderburg in the middle) visible.
The most ruined and oldest of the castles, Burg Hinterburg. It was built around 1100 but has been in ruins for several hundred years.
Another view of Burg Schadeck. Hiking trails connected all four of the castles, although you could only visit the two that are in ruins (the other two are private homes).
