The Coogee
Gang is a group of people who all met in Australia (and many lived in the Sydney neighborhood
of Coogee, hence the name). Several of the founding members of the group were in graduate
school together at the University of New South Wales, and the gang grew from there. Since
Marco and Bine were members of the Coogee Gang, gang members came from their current homes
all over the world to gather and celebrate the week of the wedding. Kirsten and Jim met
many of the Coogee Gang members on their trip to visit members John and Susan McMahon in
Sydney in 1999, and John and Susan were the ones who put them in touch with Marco and Bine
when they first moved to Germany, so Kirsten and Jim feel like honorary members!
