Frankfurt has a bad reputation due to its skyscrapers, but it's actually quite lovely. And Wiesbaden is a very charming old bath town about 25 mi west of Frankfurt.
The historic heart of Frankfurt is here in the
Römerberg Square. The Römer, or city hall, is on the right and the 16th-century fountain of Justitia is on the left.
A hidden gem in Wiesbaden -- the inside of the Russian Orthodox Church that is the burial place of Elizabeth Mikhailovna, wife of Duke Adolf of Nassau.
The lovely grounds of the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, the city's main theater, convention center, and casino.
A beautiful panoramic view of Wiesbaden from a lookout in Neroberg, a suburb of Wiesbaden, near the Russian Orthodox Church pictured above.
