Part of the fun of visiting the Highlands is looking for the native "wildlife".
The Highlands are known for their Highland cattle, the relatively small but very hairy cows with bad tempers, but we had to wait until Skye to see one.
The only animal we actually saw in the "wild" was the native red deer. We saw him on a ridge above us during our Glen Affric hike.
This little lamb felt like posing for a perfect picture. We found him lounging under a tree in the sun near the beginning of our Isle of Skye hike.
The "wild" animal you see most often in Scotland is the sheep. We say "wild" because they often roam where they're not supposed to, like here on the road.
