Our first day in Mallorca we did a lovely 11 km walk along the southwest coast.
The ruins of the Sa Trapa monastery, originally inhabited by Trappist monks who arrived in 1810. A fire hit the area in 1994 and burned the vegetation.
A view back at the uninhabited Illa Sa Dragonera, or Dragon Island. There is a 1200 ft drop straight down from the cliffs to the water.
Jim displays our Lonely Planet Walking in Spain book, which we have used for two different Spain trips. The view in the background is looking northeast along the western coast of Mallorca.
A view of the twisty road back to the start of the walk in the town of Sant Elm. The road up was steeper but more direct; this road took a long time!
