We spent one day exploring the whole eastern half of the island, from hill to beach.
A view east from the top of the Santuario de San Salvador (San Salvador Monastery), which is on top of a large hill near the town of Felanitx.
Jim stands by the huge cross at the Santuario de San Salvador. This is the highest point in the southeast part of the island.
Jim poses by a tree on the edge of one of the many beaches in the Cala d'Or resort area. We visited a couple of the beaches, which were almost deserted when we were there but are packed in summer.
The lovely marina at Portocristo, another resort along Mallorca's east coast. Cafes and restaurants line the waterfront, and there is a natural harbour and sandy bay in Portocristo.
Jim and Kirsten in front of another one of the Cala d'Or beaches. Cala d'Or is a modern resort built from an original fishing village and has a plethora of holiday apartments for rent.
The Santuario de San Salvador. The original sanctuary dates back to the 14th century and was reconstructed in the 18th century.
