Our next stop was County Galway, where we stayed in the cute town of Clifden.
A panoramic view of Clifden at sunset. Clifden is the capital of the Connemara area of County Galway and easily accessible to all the area's sights.
A view of Clifden Bay and the grounds of Mallmore House (see below right), the guesthouse we stayed at in Clifden.
While in Clifden, we stayed at Mallmore House, a restored Georgian manor house set on 14 hectares of woodland. This is the sitting area of our room, which overlooked the grounds and Clifden Bay. The breakfasts at Mallmore House were especially good!
Musicians who peformed traditional Irish music at the pub EJ Kings that we stopped into in Clifden. The musicians were excellent!
There is a loop road you can take starting west of Clifden called the Sky Road, which takes you to the coast and back again through beautiful scenery. The shot above is quintessential Ireland: stone walls, green grass, a lake, mountains (a few of the Twelve Bens) in the distance, and of course, lots of sheep!
We did some "horsing around" on the Sky Road when we met up with this friendly horse and his friend in a field along the road.
