| The
Old National Road that linked Athens with the Peloponnesian peninsula runs through Isthmia,
a small town at the southeastern end of the Corinth Canal. Before bridges were built over
the canal, cars had to cross this bridge, which submerges to allow boats to go through the
canal. The bridge has started to submerge in this photo. |
