We stayed near Corinth for two days at the Kalamaki Beach Hotel.
Jim, Mom and Dad in the spacious lobby of the Kalamaki Beach, a lovely hotel with great views; check out its website at www.kalamakibeach.gr.
A view out over Kehries Bay from the walkway outside of the lobby of the Kalamaki Beach Hotel at sunset.
The Old National Road that linked Athens with the Peloponnesian peninsula runs through Isthmia, a small town at the southeastern end of the Corinth Canal. Before bridges were built over the canal, cars had to cross this bridge, which submerges to allow boats to go through the canal. The bridge has started to submerge in this photo.
A view back at the Corinth Canal from the submersible bridge at Isthmia. The canal is over 6 km long and 23 m wide. Digging for the canal began in AD 67, but it was not completed until 1893.
