Dad
and Kirsten spent a few hours at Hlemoutsi Castle near Kyllini, a well-preserved Frankish
castle. |

| A
sweeping view of the inside of the castle. It was built between 1220 and 1223 by the Frankish
ruler of the area to guard the port and his city nearby. |

| A
lovely view north out one of the window openings in the castle. There were amazing views from
the top of the castle. |
| The
interior part of the castle was in the process of being restored. The flowers blooming in
the courtyard were lovely. |
| An
amazing view west from the castle. The church and the buildings belong to the little town
of Kastro, and the island of Kefallonia is just barely visible on the horizon beneath the
large cloud. |

| A
view of the massive vaulted galleries that surround the inner citadel, showing the original
arched windows still intact. |
| Another
view of the massive fortifications of the castle. You could walk around the top of almost
the entire castle wall, which had excellent views in all directions. |
