We spent two nights in a lovely country mansion south of Lyon called Domaine de Gorneton. |

 |
| The Domaine de Gorneton is a lovely estate, the oldest part of which dates to 1646. It was the home of a tax collector for Louis XIV! |

| Our huge room, the Cupidon, which has its own footbridge to get to it! The room had ambiance but was modern in its amenities. |

| One of the higlights of our stay at the Domaine was dinner the first night. The owners of the Domaine, Jacqueline and Jean Fleitou, give you the option of having a meal there in the evening. We had dinner with them the first night, and it was superb! Jim even got to do the honors of slicing up the lamb! |

| Mom, Dad and Jim in the courtyard of the Domaine de Gorneton. In the summer you can eat out here, but it was still a bit too chilly when we were there to do that. |

| The picturesque courtyard as seen through the passageway from the grounds in front. The grounds also included a swimming pool and tennis court, along with the large pond (shown in the photo at the top). Jackie and Jean also have a friendly dog and cat, plus three ponies! Our stay was definitely one of the highlights of our trip (and we aren't the only ones who've enjoyed a stay there -- the Domaine was also highly recommended by users of the Karen Brown France B&B guide). |

| Kirsten and Dad with Jean pouring the wine and Jackie explaining the course we were about to eat. Jean, who is retired, is the chef in the family and prepared a wonderful meal. |
