We started our travels in the cosmopolitan city of Geneva, Switzerland.
A view of the Place du Bourge-de-Four's restaurants and merry-go-round. We had lunch at the place on the left -- one our first meals outside this year!
A view from one of the towers of the Cathédrale St. Pierre. This view shows the harbor and Jet d'Eau, a powerful fountain.
The part-Romanesque, part-Gothic Cathédrale St. Pierre, where John Calvin preached from 1536 to 1564. One of the largest archeological digs in Europe is found beneath the church.
One of the harbors of Lake Geneva, with the Jet d'Eau on the left and the mountains on the right. The jet shoots water with incredible force (200 km/h, 1360 horsepower) to create a 140m (475 ft) high plume.
Geneva by night: a view across the shore of Lake Geneva (or Lac Léman as it's known to the locals) of the "skyline" of Geneva with the Cathédrale St. Pierre on the left.
A view into the courtyard of Alabama Hall of the Hôtel de Ville, where the Geneva Convention was signed in 1864 by 16 countries.
