The
second stop on our trip was Budapest, the beautiful capital of Hungary. |

| Jim
and Kirsten with the sights of Pest in the background. Budapest is
actually two towns -- Buda on one side of the river and Pest on the
other. |

| A
set of street signs next to the Museum of Fine Arts at Heroes' Square.
Reading signs in Hungarian was a bit tough! |
| The
opulent Gellért Baths, which were just down the street from
our hotel. Budapest is a major spa center due to its 100+ thermal
springs, and there are many baths that are open to the public. |
| A
banner and Hungarian flag outside the neo-Renaissance State Opera
House. Unfortunately, we were not able to tour the inside since it
was Sunday. |

| A
view from the Citadella over the Danube at dusk. You can see St. Stephen's
Basilica in the upper right corner and Parliament near the middle
top. |
| Jim
stands next to the Zero Kilometer Stone, an unusual monument at one
end of the Chain Bridge at the bottom of Castle Hill which marks the
point from which all highway distances in Hungary are measured. |
