Bruges is a lovely medieval town that is (unfortunately) very crowded with tourists!
An interesting example of typical houses in Bruges. Bruges has been a bustling town since the 9th century due to its proximity to the water.
An odd assortment of people in medieval garb (with Jim at the far left) pose in front of the 88 meter tall Belfry tower.
A lacemaker gives a demonstration of the making of the very intricate patterned lace that Belgium is known for. Due to the work involved, a small handkerchief made of this kind of lace can cost over EUR 500!
The bridge separating the Minnewater (Lake of Love) from the Bruges canals. We went on a canal cruise, which was a great way to see the town.
An impressive display of flags in front of the Provincial Government Palace, a neo-gothic building that was the former seat of West Flanders' Provincial Council.
Jim relaxing in the park by the Minnewater (Lake of Love) and canals.
