While
Jim worked on Monday, Kirsten took a nice daytrip to Antwerp, the
capital of Flanders. |
| The
Steen, a medieval riverside castle at Steenplein on the River Scheldt.
The castle now houses a maritime museum (which was closed that day). |
| The
very colorful Renaissance Town Hall with its large fountain on the
Grote Markt. The Markt is also surrounded by guildhouses. |
| The
Groenplaats with the Cathedral of Our Lady in the background. The
Cathedral houses three well-known paintings by Rubens including "Descent
from the Cross" and "Raising of the Cross". |
| The
Antwerp skyline from the other side of the River Scheldt. There is
a pedestrian tunnel under the river that you can take for free to
the other side. |
